Q. Is laser therapy painful?
A. There is little to no pain associated with laser therapy. Some clients may request
topical numbing cream, but for most, topicals are not necessary. We also utilize our Zimmer
machine that sprays very cold to freezing air that helps to decrease pain. Dermatology Realm
takes all precautions and every step possible to ensure the least amount of discomfort for each
client. Visit Our Laser Therapy page.

Q. Will I need several treatments to remove unwanted hair or just one?
A. Hair grows in three stages and the first stage of growth is the anagen stage. It is this stage
that laser therapy is most productive in removing the hair. The anagen stage comes around every six
weeks; therefore clients will need several treatments spaced six weeks apart. Light colored hair or less
pigmented hair requires more treatments for optimal results. Visit Our Laser Hair Removal page.

Q. What will be my downtime for the MicroLaserPeel?
A. There is very little downtime associated with our micro laser peels. A 15 micron peel may leave you with a
"sunburned" look for 2-3 days before fresh, younger looking skin is revealed. A 30 micron laser peel may leave
you with a "sunburned" look for 3-4 days before the healthier skin is revealed. We also perform 40-60 depth laser peels.

Q. What is Photodynamic Therapy?
A. Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) is a skin treatment approved by the FDA to treat actinic keratoses. It is also frequently
used to treat conditions such as: acne, rosacea, sebaceous hyperplasia, oily skin, and improve skin texture by minimizing
pore size. Aminolevulinic acid 20% is applied topically to the skin and left on for 30-60 minutes then activated with a
special wavelength of light called a BLU-U. The light activates the Aminolevulinic acid 20% for 8-20 minutes while the
Aminolevulinic acid 20% destroys target cells.
