Excessive Sweating
Hyperhidrosis is a common disorder that affects the sweat glands in which there
is an overproduction of sweat. Most commonly hyperhidrosis affects the axillae
(under arms), palms of the hands, and soles of the feet. Many treatment options
are available, such as, topical aluminum chloride. Injectable BOTOX® is another
treatment option when topical agents do not work. When injected just under the skin,
the Botulium Toxin Type A temporarily blocks the chemical signals from the nerves
that stimulate the sweat glands. When the sweat glands do not receive chemical signals,
the severe sweating stops.
