Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) is a skin treatment approved by the FDA to treat actinic keratoses. It is also frequently used to treat conditions such as: acne, rosacea, sebaceous hyperplasia, oily skin, and improve skin texture by minimizing pore size. Aminolevulinic acid 20% is applied topically to the skin and left on for 30-60 minutes then activated with a special wavelength of light called a BLU-U. The light activates the Aminolevulinic acid 20% for 8-20 minutes while the Aminolevulinic acid 20% destroys target cells. |
